Tracy Morgan’s Madison Square Garden Mayhem: Comedian Survives Food Poisoning After On-Court Vomit at Heat-Knicks Game!

“Thank you for all your concern! I’m doing ok now and doctors say it was food poisoning,” the 30 Rock star, 56, wrote on Instagram on Tuesday, March 18. He shared a pic of himself in a hospital bed flashing a thumbs-up, clearly in better spirits. “Appreciate my MSG family for taking such good care of me and I need to shout out the crew that had to clean that up. Appreciate you!”

And in true Tracy Morgan fashion, he ended on a hilarious note:
“More importantly, the Knicks are now 1-0 when I throw up on the court so maybe I’ll have to break it out again in the playoffs 😅 #goknicks”

Tracy Morgan got sick during the Knicks vs. Heat game at Madison Square Garden on Monday, March 17. Fans at the game posted on X, saying they saw the comedian throw up, while some claimed he also had a bloody nose. One pic seemed to show him puking onto the court, and a video making the rounds online showed the SNL alum being wheeled out with a towel covering his face.

Because of the incident, the game was paused for around 10 minutes during the third quarter.

Morgan’s recent emergency happened just a year after he celebrated 10 years since surviving a brutal car crash. Back in June 2014, a Walmart truck slammed into the back of his limo on the New Jersey Turnpike. Investigators later revealed that the truck driver hadn’t slept for over 24 hours. They said if he hadn’t been speeding, he could have stopped in time and avoided the accident altogether.

The crash tragically killed Morgan’s friend and mentor, James McNair, and left several others injured. Morgan himself suffered a broken leg and spent two weeks in a coma. Afterward, he was confined to a wheelchair for five months and had to relearn how to walk and talk.

“I want to say to everyone who was in the van with me that night—I love you. And we miss you, Uncle Jimmy Mac. God bless your family,” Morgan told PEOPLE in June 2024. “And to the driver that night and his family, me and my comrades forgive you.”

Just last month, Morgan was part of SNL50, celebrating Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary. He even jumped in on a few sketches during the show.

“This is incredible,” Morgan told comedian Matt Rogers during the SNL50: The Red Carpet special on Feb. 16. “I just thank the Lord that I’m a part of this, that I survived the accident and I’m alive to be here for this.”

At the time of the incident, reps for both Morgan and the New York Knicks didn’t immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for more details on Monday.
